States Without Inspection

States Without Inspection

Postby PA91Metro2DoorHatch on Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:21 am

I have found that Florida has no inspections and no emissions, none at all.

South Carolina does not have inspections either.

Maryland has them only upon the sale of a vehicle.

PA has them every year along with emissions testing in many counties where population exceeds a certain amount.

Ohio has no annual inspections, however they do have emissons in the larger urban areas.

New York has inspections.

A young mechanic also suggested that Arkansas does not have inspections either...

Does mandatory inspection help keep more cars on the road by making sure that they are maintenanced regularly, or does it take more cars off the road by declaring them unfit to drive? Is this just a scam to create state revenue, and to assure steady business for shops and parts manufacturers?

Please add to this list any information that you have which may lead to finding of safe homes for some of our cherished, more senior 3 cylindered vehicles.
If you know of such a list that is already started or completed, Please, do tell.

Let's shoot for all 40!!
I mean 50, no, 51.
Nha, lets just go for 49, since it is physically impossible to drive to most of Alaska. Though I do hear its difficult to MapQuest a trip to Hawaii, aw, lets just go for 50.

the state of tennessee does not require a safety or emissions test, but some counties do.
when i was there in 2002, Georgia was the same.

as for the purpose, i'm not sure. at first, it got a lot of unsafe cars off the roads, and a lot of cars got repairs and tuneups that made them safer and cleaner-running, but now i think the states are hooked on the revenue.

Is that why the county is listed on the Tennesse licence plate, because some counties have inspections and some don't? I always liked the idea of having it on there because i like counties, but i did not know for sure that there was a reason for it.

Middle Tennessee, how was Bonaroo this year? Do you see any of that traffic ?
Are you anywheres near The Farm? It seems like they might be a place that would be interested in high efficiency vehicles.
Are you near Williamsport, Tn. at all? Thats where I'm from up here in Pa.

Man! do I ever like counties.

county govts are generally the issuing agency for tags, and have been as long as i can remember, long before there was emissions testing.

i live in bedford county, about 1/2 hour from bonnaroo, so yes, we see some of their traffic. ive never been to bonnaroo, and really have no desire to see it, being a bit too old and sensible to sit out in the heat and dirt listening to loud music. there was a time, but i digress.

dont know The Farm, where/what is it?

williamsport is, i believe, in east tennessee, which is several hours from here. i get up that way once or twice a year, and am usually focused on getting to my destination. it is pretty country.
