It is to my understanding that convertibles of this generation came equipped with wheels that were 13 feet in length, and in height.
What I am trying to find out is whether or not these gigantic wheels had a hole to fit a 10mm lug, or was the lug stud bigger on these models.

I guess the more precise question is, Does the 2nd Generation convertible come equipped with a 10mm or a 12mm lug stud and nut.                                                                             8)    :(

i did a quick search of my local parts store website and it says my '93 hatch takes a 12mm. it didnt distinguish between the hatch and the 'vert.

Yeah, I called an Advance Auto out in Colorado because it was past bedtime here in the east, and they said their listing for '91 models showed a 10mm and a 12mm. So what I'm guessing is that the hatch models with 12" wheels use a 10mm and that the Metrovert with its coveted 13" wheels uses a 12mm.

There is a guy around the area that has a '92 in need of a new top with has fred flintstone floor pans and a new $2000 engine just sitting under a tree, so I am going to go up there and check it out; the thing is though, I've got to climb a series of back-country roads to make it to his steep driveway which is well gullied out and is made of mostly hardened mud and loose gravel.

So I'll see and report back.

I do know that the extra one inch of acrostness translates into an extra 4 inches of aroundness. So that means and extra 4 inches of distance per each revolution. Which at an average of 2500 rpms is 10,000 inches per minute which is about an extra 833 feet per minute, and 5280/833 is 6.3.
And so for about every 6 minutes of driving you get an extra mile of distance, and which at 6 x 10 its about 10 extra miles of gain per each hour of driving.
And then so while for roughly every 5 hours of drive time, you get an extra gallon of gas. roughly

you had me confused at first with these fancy technical words like aroundness and acrosstness.
and all those numbers are making my head spin faster.
re the bigger wheels giving you better gas mileage, i'm not sure, as you also need to account for increased rolling resistance. :(

Yes, there are many factors, and I didn't account for the gear ratio, but what I do know, is that i just drove 61 miles on a half a gallon of gas using the first click method at two separate stations. Thats 122 miles per gallon!!! How's that for proof???

I think I am going to start using the "pump slowly until gas is visible directly under the M80 door" method.
Or find a resilient clear plastic hose to replace the filler hose and then measure out volumes on it so to monitor the fuel as it drops.

I do think that the logic of bigger wheels is similar to that of gears. that the bigger the gear, the more work can be transferred using the same effort. Although I am not 100% certain on this, and what all the critical factors would be.
The bigger tires are wider and do create more surface contact friction and a slight amount more space for air to travel underneath the car. I wonder what the weight difference would be when using helium or some other gas to inflate the tires; this may make a significant difference when mounted on an aluminum wheel. I do believe that monster truck tires are less efficient because they are so much heavier, they create more wind resistance underneath, and their surfaces are knobby and not smooth.

Has anyone found an aluminum wheel that will fit on a metro?

I checked out this 92 or 93 convertible and it does have 12mm studs to go with its 13 foot wheels, and the lug nuts are 19mm.
Just to rehash, the standard metro of this generation comes with 12inch wheels, 10mm studs and a 17mm nut.
I was trying to find a 13inch wheel that will fit snugly on a 10mm stud. The inspection mechanic said that either these lug nuts are too small or the wheel holes are too big and you'll have to change one or the other before I can pass you.
What a dick.

And so I have gotten 12" wheels to pass it, but I still run the thirteeners with washers under the nut. (I bought it with thirteens on it, 12's not included)
This is all after i'd searched long and hard for a 10mm lug nut with a wider head on it. this is virtually nonexistant; though all of the parts places I went to willingly searched for them, they didn't just kick me out.
