Anything electronic in a 94 Geo Automatic Transmission ?

Postby 4950cycle on Thu Jun 10, 2010 9:52 am

I have a 94 Geo 5 door 3 cyl. Automatic car. I can only feel the first shift while exccellerating down the road. No matter how hard I pay attention to it I can not feel the second shift. So to make sure to see if Im getting in 3rd gear I run as fast as the car will go. It goes 80 MPH. It must be going into third gear to go that fast, Right ? Thats about all these 3 geos will go. Is there anything electric in the trans that helps or makes them shift and /or is there an older 2 speed Automatic maybe out of a sprint someone may have put in this car ?

Try putting it in first and shift it manually through the gears. I'd bet that there are three speeds this way.

Im sure I tried that, Its been a while though. Cars got an electrical issue I will have to iron out first. I think I know what it is judging from a post in the archives here. Car has no spark and lights go on and off at will. But anyway, The car maybe starting off in second gear judging on how super sluggish it is on takeoff ? That would also explain the only one shift it has underway. Also wont go into any sort off passing gear once your underway and nail the throttle. Have tried adjusting Shift linkage and passing gear linkage to no avail. The car still acts the same ? Thats why I think it might be some kind of electric lockup or internal problem. Hence the electric question I had asked about it. I was hoping there might be some kind of automatic Gurue on this sight. I never had much problem with automatics in my life so therefore I dont know much about trouble shooting them. PS. Have already changed fluid and filter/pan gasket
